A Place in the City

Christopher Hitchens investigates whether Mother Teresa of Calcutta deserves her saintly image. He probes her campaigns against contraception and abortion and her questionable relationships with right-wing political leaders.

The inspiring true story of Dream Alliance, an unlikely race horse bred by small town bartender, Jan Vokes. With very little money and no experience, Jan convinces her neighbors to chip in their meager earnings to help raise Dream and compete with the racing elites. Their investment pays off as Dream rises through the ranks and becomes a beacon of hope in their struggling community.

The film explores the first Palestinian Intifada against the Israeli Occupation in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. It shows moving images of resistance against the Israeli occupation, while exploring the steadfast determination of the Palestinian People, confronting a modern army with stones. The film highlights the active and important role of women in the intifada.

Filming began immediately after the destruction of Jenin Refugee Camp by Israeli forces. The devastation of a desperate people is poignantly portrayed. Images of a harsh reality are prominent - mass burial pits and piles of rubble where homes, businesses and villages once stood. Includes images from Nablus and other West Bank towns invaded by Israel in early 2002.
