A Political Movie

A short film tells that the story of a group of actors, living together in a house and sharing their dilemmas with each other.

In Campina Grande, in Paraíba, a hamster named Borges lives with his owner, Napoleão (Everaldo Pontes). Blind, he is a fan of the Argentine writer Jorge Luis Borges – origin of the name of the pet – and depends on acquaintances to survive. Yara (Verônica Cavalcanti), a girl who cleans the house, Romão (Fabiano Raposo), a boy who does little service, and Vladimir (Paulo Philippe) are his helpers and plan the robbery of a rare and unpublished work by Borges, which Napoleon says save.

As a doctoral student, she investigates women's rights to expression within peasant protests; through this engagement, she seeks the strength to dismantle the fundamental structures of patriarchy, addressing issues such as marriage, family, and the valuation of these women's labor and freedom. This is a fictional film rooted in many real-life moments — shot at the MST’s (Landless Workers' Movement) Normandia encampment in Caruaru — that blends fiction with documentary elements.

A tragedy occurs during a performance by an artistic troupe. And this episode redefines the lives of two sisters. Both live with the ghosts of what happened while a shepherd tries to expand his flock.

Two sisters, Bethânia and Laura, reunite to discuss a family matter. They travel the roads of the Pernambuco hinterland in search of their father's body, Seu Lauro. At home, Bethânia's daughter edits a video in which the living and the dead become intertwined in a game of silences and revelations. Ao Sabor das Cinzas (Led by the Ashes) is a magical realism piece about the collapse of communication and grief conveyed in real time.

One country, three completely different cities. People move seeking a change not only territorially, but also - and mainly - internally. Traveling brings them closer to themselves, immersed in a universe with a poetic look like life.
