Since it began in 1983, Frontline has been airing public-affairs documentaries that explore a wide scope of the complex human experience. Frontline's goal is to extend the impact of the documentary beyond its initial broadcast by serving as a catalyst for change.

With unique access inside the battle for Hong Kong, FRONTLINE follows five protesters through the most intense clashes over several months of pro-democracy protests. The film examines their struggle against what they say is growing influence from the communist government of mainland China.

Right-wing extremist acts of violence are increasing in Germany. The documentary traces how extremists have developed plans of overthrow and have carried out terrorist plots as well as assaults on Jews or migrants and also how far-right extremists infiltrated security services, which are actually there to protect the population and the state from such attacks. This raises the question of what the German authorities are doing to confront the growing problem and what options they have for action to counter the rising right-wing extremism in Germany. FRONTLINE journalist Evan Williams goes on a journey through Germany, meets the people involved and investigates these burning questions.

The plight of China’s Kazakh Muslims is little-known. But tens of thousands of them are locked up or missing in China’s Xinjiang province, alongside hundreds of thousands more Uyghurs. Now, whistle-blowers who worked inside mass detention units – so-called 're-education centres' - have revealed shocking accounts of ethnic Uyghur and Kazakh Muslims being subjected to horrifying abuse and systematic violence. Since 2014, Chinese authorities have been imprisoning Muslims in Xinjiang. Thousands of Kazakh muslims have been detained in 're-education' camps. Khalida Aqitqan's three sons are currently imprisoned: 'I don't know which prison they are in. I don't know if they are dead or alive'. Appalling treatment has been documented: 'There is evidence of mistreatment amounting to torture', says journalist Alison Killing.

Working with their team at the Clooney Foundation for Justice, Anya Neistat, a brilliant war crimes investigator, joins forces with Solomiia Stasiv, a young Ukrainian woman just entering the field. Together they document atrocities in the fight to bring Russian generals to trial and justice to the Ukrainian people.

An investigation into how far-right leaders in Germany have risen to the brink of power. Reporter Evan Williams examines the reasons behind the surge in support for their brand of hardline nationalist politics, and the roles of Russia and the U.S.
