Meanwhile, Ben must decide whether to return to his homeland to help his sister Jasmine care for their aging father. Letty and Stanley, two other students, struggle to define their relationships and ambitions. The story is told through a series of whimsical episodes in a minimalist visual style.

In the woods, a mother and her daughter spend a weekend vacation at the cabin. They organize a traditional barbecue evening with their old friends living on the other side of the lake. However, the Lapointe family never shows up. Increasingly disturbing events threaten the safety of the two women, but above all their sanity. The lake cools and darkens, danger lurks nearby.
