The Great Leap

Farhad's younger brother gets killed right in front of his eyes. Now Farhad along with his brother, the 'dead man', steps to the woods of spirits for revenge. This journey though, is to the past and the future.

An actor and actress are brought together during a casting for a mainstream film. They don’t get the roles, so they decide to make their own film instead. This will be a movie which defies the censorship rules, a film in which anything goes, and its makers won’t be held back by anything or anyone. The pair become a threesome when they get hold of a cameraman and director named Ziya, and the enchanting adventure can now begin. A burglary (the movie has to be financed somehow) marks the start of not only the shoot, but also a joyride, a game and a celebration of friendship and film.

In a misty village, on the top of a mountain, two gamblers take an old man to his cottage in the middle of the jungle to get their money back. They bury him alive in his own garden, find the money in his house, and split it between themselves.

Rama, a zealous sensitive youth of 28, has blinded his girlfriend in a fight with scissors. He is going to be sentenced to lex talionis (blinding of one of his eyes) in the court tomorrow. The night before the hearing, his influential father bails him out for one night by paying a lot of money, so Rama can be with his family the last night. But Rama has other plans. He takes the opportunity and helped by a friend, he goes to the south of Iran as a camera operator with a filming group to exit the country illegally. He makes a mistake and takes money from the bank and the police trace him. Rama pays money to some smugglers and they send him to a deserted island to wait for a launch that will take him abroad. Fate has something different in store for Rama and he falls for a pregnant woman on the island.

Three miners who survived the collapse of a mine decide to hide their deaths so that their families can claim compensation. Their clandestine life gradually leads to new crises: family tensions, a desire to start anew, and a search for identity that brings them all the way to Teheran. Meanwhile, Iranian authorities await proof of death…
