Happiness Must Be Protected

The film takes place in Moscow in 1925, during the New Economic Policy (NEP). The three main characters - Misha, Genka, and Slava - have grown up and become Komsomol members. A murder occurs in their courtyard: engineer Zimin is shot dead at night. The prime suspect turns out to be a local hooligan. But Misha refuses to believe him completely and tries to find evidence on his own.

Young political officer Pyotr Marinin arrives at his unit without having time to say goodbye to his fiancée. After receiving a message about Lyuba's arrival, Marinin goes to meet her, but the war begins, and he joins an unformed tank brigade in its first battle against the Nazis...

Olga and Butkevich, the head of the convoy, meet at a roadside cafe. They hadn't seen each other since the beginning of the war. During the conversation, it turns out that a man with the surname of Olga's first husband, whom she considers dead, is working in the convoy. Butkevich arranges a meeting for them. Olga does not recognize him.

New teacher arrives to the remote village Krinitsy and not everybody are happy about what he's doing.

A story of a crime which was committed and solved during one night only.

Khrystyna Zhalyuk, the chairman of the village council, has had many difficulties from the very first days of her work. The first session of the village council is disrupted due to the fault of the collective farm chairman Spyridon Zhilinka, who pretended to be sick and did not show up at the meeting. Khristina's daughter Yulka is accused of calf death and suspended from work. Makar Shulga, the former chairman of the village council, who has now settled in the district center, is weaving intrigues against Khristina. Zhalyuk discovers that Zhilinka and Shulga were engaged in eyewash, overestimating the yields of some crops.
