Otto Kimmel had a long career as a confectioner. Now he is a pensioner and primarily a grandpa. In his house, where three generations live under one roof, Otto is the restless soul; this sometimes causes problems, but also brings a lot of joy. For his grandchildren, Grandpa Otto is a "fragrant buddy" because he is up for a lot of fun and initiates the craziest things. To Martha's chagrin, however, he sometimes oversteps his grandfatherly "sphere of competence". Amusing events and entanglements unfold over 75 minutes, and the "Gesellenstück" (journeyman's play) finally results in something that even Grandpa Kimmel is more than surprised by.

The main character Otto, the "best man", is a copy of the illustrious Mister Bean. He takes on an apprenticeship as a building-worker, which makes him a member of a building brigade. At the same time Otto tries to start a love affair, which he handles even clumsier. Never the less Otto makes progress with the lady in question, a single mother, who apparently doesn't mind. Actually he wanted her sister, but a retired Leninist party member changes his mind. This gives him the courage to persevere in his work, albeit with the helping hand of the obligatory retired party member. And behold, in the end Otto invents a new method of building, which saves the brigade many hours of work.

Vera Urban is on a ski holiday with her children. Her two admirers - the sailor Winter and Savings Bank leader Martin - travel enthusiastically in the snow to finally conquer the heart of their worshiped in a relaxed holiday atmosphere. There are also times to use unfair means to cut out the side buhler. But the two competitions get unimagined: Vera's ex-husband Georg also spends holidays in the same hotel. Does old love flare up again?

Willi Zubrodt is delegated by his department to a parachuting course at the GST. As he is not very disciplined, has no respect for the instructors and does not fit into the collective, the instructors try to show him up and force his expulsion from the course. Jochen Hamann met Martina Schwarz during a stay at a health resort lasting several weeks. The two fell in love and continued their affair after the cure. This is, of course, much to the displeasure of Jochen's wife and Martina's husband. Renate Hamann and Michael Schwarz then form an alliance of convenience, so to speak, in order to separate the two again over time. But this is not as easy as initially thought. In the end, however, Jochen is the one who has to decide who he wants to live with in the future. Either with Renate or with Martina.

She wants to take a little break from her everyday life as a housewife over the weekend. She asks her brother Walter Riedel to look after her apartment and her family during this time. But for Margit's husband Gerhard, housekeeping is a foreign concept and doesn't want to believe what his brother-in-law is now telling him. He had been in such a good mood until this moment and now this - no dinner ready. The three children are a little more understanding, but don't feel like getting into the kitchen either. To Gerhard's annoyance, the fridge is empty and he can't even find his beloved after-work beer. But going shopping himself on Friday is beneath him. He also has to repair the television for his neighbor Reuter.
