Tonya, a winner of a regional competition, is admitted to the entrance exams to the capital's Song and Dance Ensemble. The young polar pilot Ladeikin helps the girl to get from the Far North to Moscow and become a soloist of the ensemble.

Four inseparable friends — Sergei, Nina, Oska and Zhenya — spent all their school childhood on the Clean Ponds, in Moscow. But the school is over, and in their beloved gazebo they dream of the future, swear fidelity to each other and do not yet know that tomorrow war will break out and they will become participants in terrible events.

The cafe is almost empty. A customer tries in vain to choose a meal to his liking. The barmaid and two waitresses are discussing a recent radio program in which a retired waiter talks about the plight of his colleagues in the old days. The customer is nervous: borscht is impossible to eat, crayfish is already peckless, milk is sour, beer is warm.... The disappointed customer, leaving, says that he was the one who spoke on the radio. The waitresses apologize: they thought it was an ordinary customer, but now they will serve him in no time. The man refuses and in a peculiar way - by verse and personal example - gives a lesson in cultural service.

A funny story about a middle-aged man who ran into a store, bought two pies and ate them while standing in line. When it was his turn to pay, he got into trouble - no one had seen how many pies he had eaten. The head of the section invites the customer to go to the head of the department, and the latter, in turn, addresses the store director. The director suggests that the customer wait until the store closes, when the goods will be removed.

Unfortunately their dog Barbos just loves playing fetch. And this time that stick was used for blast fishing. Barbos saw people throwing a smoking stick in a water, and fetched it right back to his owners. The "unusual cross" part begins when owners try to outrun the dog with dynamite.

In the field bag of the captured pilot, they find a secret report, which speaks of the existence of defensive fortifications around the coastal city, which the Reds have yet to take. Young heroes get the task to get a map of fortifications and go to the city...

Igor decides to return to Moscow, but getting to know the locals, and even more the feeling that arose between him and nurse Alyona, forces him to change his decision.
