Not Like Dad

On the verge of divorce, Max comes to his ex Irina's to pick up his son Dima for the autumn holidays, but then it turns out that the child has run away from home. The worried parents set off in search in the car of family psychologist/Irina's part-time boyfriend Vlad. Learning that Dima ran away to the village to Max's father, Bata, Max recalls, on the drive, how his parents, during their divorce, sent him to the village, about their life together, his first love and childhood friends.

17-year-old tennis player Katya is forced to quit the sport. Her family has no money, no connections, and not even the desire to fight for her dream of the world of big-time sports. Now tennis has become a way of survival for the girl. Pretending to be a novice, Katya goes to private courts in Moscow and beats rich amateurs for money. One of these "duels" is witnessed by former professional athlete Igor Strelnikov, a tired coach who has long dreamed of finding a truly gifted child. When he sees Katya, he realizes that this is the "uncut diamond" and his chance to return to the world of big—time sports. Igor is making the biggest bet of his career on Katya.

A mini-series based on the acclaimed film "Dad", which will show even more sketches about the relationship between father and son and what childhood was like in the era of the difficult nineties. Max is 35 years old, he works a lot and practically does not see his family, and settles problems with children by buying them a new toy or slipping them a tablet. Max and his family go on a road trip to congratulate his father on his anniversary, during the trip he argues with his wife about parenting methods and remembers his childhood: a stick gun, arithmetic lessons and numerous feasts. Max asks himself the question, is he a good father?
