A talented blues player borrows some money to produce his first record. Not being able to return the money, the saxophonist decides to run away. The pawnbroker fraudulently coaxes his saxophone from him. The saxophonist meets a young woman under unusual circumstances.

Owl Mountain

Radio Free Europe, BBC, and Voice of America can only rarely get through the Iron Curtain and Soviet mufflers to Lithuania, a country torn by a war between the local resistance movement and the Soviet regime that is forced onto Lithuanian people by bayonets of the Russian army. Everybody who tries to resist the Soviet rule is either terrorized or executed or exiled to Siberia. He is one of the local high-school students who witness the local armed resistance to the Soviet occupation and ultimately decide to join it by taking a gun into their hands. He collects documents and all possible kinds of evidence that prove daunting crimes of the Kremlin. He soon becomes a legend among his peers. To girls, he is John Wayne the Hollywood Icon. Guys see him as an insurmountable obstacle and an invincible rival in matters of love.

Ghetto

In 1942, in Vilna, the Nazi annihilate 55,000 Jews and squeeze the 15,000 survivors in a seven blocks ghetto. The twenty-two year old sadistic commander Kittel is assigned to administrate the ghetto in the capital of Lithuania, becoming the master of life or death. When he finds the gorgeous Hayyah sneaking with one kilo of beam stolen from the German army, he sentences her to death; but when he is informed that she was a former successful singer, he decides to activate the old theater and promote shows in the ghetto. The Jew Chief of Police Gens uses the theater and a sewing factory to save as much lives as he can; in his ambiguous position, he kills Jews to save lives of others.

Daria Ivanova, a graduate of the journalism faculty, works for a popular weekly magazine. Despite the obvious successes, he considers the current occupation empty and unnecessary, and therefore seeks to work in the genre of investigative journalism. One day she gets the chance. And although the girl has only very general ideas about law, she really wants to make a career, and working in a popular newspaper is an excellent launching pad. In addition, Daria has a fiance – the investigator of the city prosecutor's office Anton Nikitin. Counting on his help, Daria becomes the leading "Judicial column".
