Yuangong, the deacon, opened the shrine and exposed the holy book to the human world. He is now punished to guard the book for life by the jade emperor for breaking heaven’s law. In order to pass this holy book to human beings, he would have to get by the antagonist fox.

The old man who picks up dung founds a beautiful silk belt in the field. No one claims it so he ties it around his waist. The old man thinks his old padded jacket is not good enough for the belt, and uses his savings for a high quality robe. But the trousers and shoes don't match the outfit, causing others to laugh at him. The old man couldn't stand the humiliation of the waiter, so he returned home without saying anything, smashed the piggy bank, and went to buy matching pants and boots. Now, passers-by, including the waiter, looked at him with envy, and the old man felt proud for a moment. But if the old man who picks up dung is dressed like this, how can he pick up dung again?

A fishing boy fell in love with a conch girl living on the fairy island. He passed numerous tests and lived with the girl happily ever after.

During the Agrarian Revolution, the Red Army passed through the Liuyang River area, and the rich man fled to the city in fright. The fat and thin rich brothers were afraid that the villagers would catch up, so after crossing the river, they burned the bridge on the Liuyang River. After the Red Army entered the village, they helped the villagers build a new bridge. In order to thank the Red Army, the villagers erected a sign on the new bridge with three characters "Red Army Bridge" engraved on it.

This film was made by Shanghai Animation Film Studio and is based on contemporary events in February, 1964. It’s a retelling of how Mongolian sisters Long Mei and Yurong, ages 11 and 8 respectively, successfully walked nearly 70 kilometers after having been surprised by a blizzard while grazing their father’s sheep. Both girls survived with severe frostbite.
