The Old Man

In the vocational school the professionally excellent Dani János works on his own invention in his leisure time, but he does not like learning. However, even his own father learns in the evenings, he will become a teacher.

Antal Tőrös, teacher of mathematics, does not like and trust people. No wonder he is not liked by anybody, either. Only his colleague, Klára takes a liking to him. Tőrös is in love with her, and to prove this, he tries to forget about his previous life-philosophy.

András has been living away from his village for over twenty years, he is still appointed as the new chairman of the local agricultural co-op.

Marci, an impertinent crook buries his drunk parents and chooses to wander instead of becoming an apprentice.

The turnings of this satirical story are accentuated by the comments of the Director and the Author. Éva is in love with Zoli. She expects to live a wild and modern life by his side, not the boredom of a petite-bourgeois household. On a drunken morning, Zoli writes a poem. The poem is published in a morning paper and divides readers. Because of the poem the young man is dismissed it from his work, and his landlord kicks him out from the apartment.

Kiss, an engineer, accompanies his wife to the maternity ward. He wants to leave the woman because while he was away in Brazil, she did not undergo an abortion as they had agreed before. While he is packing up at home, the memories of the sweet events of their life together keep coming to him, one after the other.

The film is a ballad about the dwellers of a block-of-flats in Angyalföld.
