Signs of Love

Profiler Zoya Volgina is the best in the business: crime scenes literally come to life before her eyes. It is Zoya and a special employee of the Investigative Committee, Timofey Volokh, who are involved in a new investigation: in St. Petersburg, an unknown strangler embalms the bodies of his victims, turning them into statues. Zoya is familiar with his “handwriting” - many years ago she already encountered a very similar person.

Faced with insurmountable problems, five young Muscovites flee to a monastery near the half-abandoned village of Topi. They view the trip as an adventure, a long-awaited freedom from worries, and an opportunity to forget. However, the journey turns into a series of mysterious events that only brings closer what they fled from and make them doubt the reality of what's happening.

A film almanac consisting of three short stories, each of which tells about the fate of a woman, her hopes for love and the vicissitudes of fate. A village girl Mira dreams of a groom, and now an officer stays in their house for the night, and Mira soon discovers that she is pregnant... Valya, who returned from Venice, where she lived for two years, meets Alexei, her sister's lover – and she likes him. Vera, a retired ballerina, teaches yoga at a hotel and falls in love with a married man. And one day a Spanish theater comes to their city with a ballet ... each of the women will have to make difficult decisions in an attempt to find happiness.

A young Russian woman, trying to make it in the big city, is hired for an off-the-books government operation, which involves seducing and later exposing a number of prominent political opposition figures.

Our eternal theme is crime and punishment. In Boris Godunov, the problems of conscience and existential choice are linked to the history of the country. Pushkin says that these things are woven into a mysterious knot or pattern. The choice of each of us is also the choice of our own history. An incorrect individual choice or a karmic mistake can lead to a chain of fatal events. If a person finds himself in power, it can become a problem for the whole people.

A man attempts to commit suicide and, as a result, unexpectedly acquires the phenomenal ability to immediately answer any question. A modest and harmless individual, he becomes a target for all - from women to criminal bosses and even foreign special services. Some try to use him, others try to murder him, but the ordinary man keeps living according to the dictates of his own conscience.

Summer, St. Petersburg of the XXI century. Student Rodion Raskolnikov is exhausted by lack of money, unemployment and thoughts about the meaninglessness of his existence. But the idea is maturing in his mind that some people have the "right" to do the most vile things if they make great discoveries and move the world forward. To test the theory on himself, he kills an old woman-a micro-lender. Investigator Porfiry Petrovich is on the trail of Raskolnikov, who wants to get a sincere confession from him.

Nadya and Valya, young women on the verge of a nervous breakdown, without faith and hope for the best, sisters, of whom, ironically, there are only two left. Will they be able to break out of their "Chekhovian" stupor and again begin to feel, breathe, live and love?

One day Alexey appears, a mature man with an intelligent face. Nadia snatches him but Valya also likes him. A classic love triangle? No, our sisters have very different plans for Alexey…

A very rare, unfortunately unfinished film based on the brilliant novel by Andrei Platonov. Shot partly in the style of a silent movie. with strange whispers and sounds. Fans of the unusual must watch.
