Dimitra Koutsiabasakos is 88 years old and lives alone in the village of Armatoliko in the Pindos mountain range, on the banks of the ancient river Acheloos, named after the mythical river god who fought Heracles for the favors of a woman and who could take on many forms. Dimitra’s home is located near the place where a great dam is being built and lies right in the middle of the area destined to become a lake after construction is completed. Dimitris, Costas and Petros decide to pay their grandmother a visit and make a documentary.

It is a game through which their special talents and competitive spirit unfold. One is good at balancing acts, another at diving and another at somersaults. It is in this neighborhood that Aaron will spend the most important summer of his life: a rite of passage from childhood to adolescence, a time for learning about love, jealousy and friendship.

Markos, an ambitious young journalist on a provincial television channel is trying to retrieve a gun stolen from his Candid Camera-type show. His search leads him in the dead of winter to his mother's neck of the woods, one of the abandoned villages on the southwestern slopes of Mount Pindos. The village of Messochora, as well as the paternal home of the documentary director, are on the banks of the Acheloos river, in the mountain range of Pindos. The area, however, is flooded by the artificial lake created by the diversion of the river. The documentary unfolds the incredible story of the hostage of the village, the family tragedy of the director himself, and the admirable struggle of the inhabitants of Messochora.

Zhong Ming, a gifted potter, is in a deep search for his own personal voice. His works are a harmonious blend of Chinese and Western culture with respect to the "Rongchang" ceramic tradition. His work goes far beyond the conventional pottery that the market demands, with awards in international art competitions, and he tries to find a way to balance these two aspects of his art. Eventually, through his work, he is led to find his personal style and gain recognition for it.

In 2006 the Trikala Prison closes after 110 years of operation. Seven people who were strongly associated with the prison, return to it to reconstruct its past, illuminating with their personal narratives different aspects of the history of modern Greece.
