1940. Three little boys find mysterious package from another di- mension including the potion allowing the human beings live much longer they do. One of them suddenly dies in the river while others drank the potion. Now they are able to live million more years but still they will never forget what happened with their f riend.

For the last three years police Lieutenant Mikhail Solovyev has been chasing a maniac. The capital is petrified by this scourge of society who is leaving dead bodies in his wake. An epic saga which takes place over a long time span from 1961 to 1991. From the midpoint of the story we view the friendship of four boys. In season main heroes are in their 20's, they are childhood friends, and for the sake of their friendship they are ready to sacrifice anything. Everyone has their own dreams, but their circumstances will take them on a difficult path and they will be forced into all kinds of underground economic dealings in the early 60s. And, worst of all - they are successful in this business. And the more successful they are, the further they get from their real dreams.

The film covers the heroic defence of the Brest Fortress, which was attacked during the first strike of German invaders on June 22 1941. The story describes the events of the first days of the defence, including the three main resistance zones, headed by the regiment commander, Pyotr Mikhailovich Gavrilov, the commissar Efim Moiseevich Fomin and the head of the 9th frontier outpost, Andrey Mitrofanovich Kizhevatov. Many years later veteran Alexander Akimov again recalls the memories of the time, when he, then a 15 year old Sasha Akimov was deeply in love with the beautiful Anya and suddenly found himself in the middle of the bloody events of war.

Director Mitya escapes from the set of the next television series. In this he is helped by the ghost of Marcello Mastroianni. The decision to escape launches a chain of events with the participation of Mitya's family and friends, which can only be unraveled by the answer to the question of what kind of director he wants to be: great, talented, or just normal.

The heroes of the almanac's stories are students who studied at the same institute in the 90s and lived together in a dormitory. Then many people left, their paths diverged and their lives turned out differently, but they did not lose touch and still communicate, help each other and share common problems.
