A Day of a Man of Affairs

A young woman in a creepy old house is terrorized by a killer and an ape-like monster.

The Columbia-Victor Gems series was Columbia’s answer to Warner Bros.’ Vitaphone shorts, often featuring vaudevillians or musical performers in a short sketch or musical number. Old Man Trouble stars concert singer Jules Bledsoe, best-known for creating the role of Joe in Kern and Hammerstein’s Showboat, which had just concluded its Broadway run at the time this film was made.

In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hideout on the Mexican border. But Logan's attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are upended when a young mutant arrives, pursued by dark forces.

Country singing star Jimmie Rodgers sings three songs in this short: "Waiting for a Train", "Daddy and Home", and "T for Texas", all his own compositions.
