Rosa, I Love You

It is the story of the dilemmas and struggles in the life of a film director during a period when fear and despair reigned, people were imprisoned, tortured, and killed. The director, who wants to make a film about Nazım Hikmet, is trying to find the money to do so.

A father and son come to grips with external hardships and their own human frailties as they attempt to earn enough money to send the boy to school.

In this film that wavers unsteadily between a comedy and a tragedy, Murtaza (Mujdat Gezen) is a deluded security guard whose fanatical reverence for "duty" verges on the psychotic. He is incapable of seeing himself for what he is -- and as a consequence he is often the unwitting and unknowing brunt of jokes. His wife and daughters are painfully aware of his shortcomings, but they generally suffer in silence. One of the daughters ends up working in the factory to help the family out financially, and when Murtaza finds her sleeping on the job one night he hits her so hard she eventually dies from the blow. Though that is not the end of it, by any means.

Esme, the most beautiful woman in her village, is in love with Abbas, the valiant young man of the village, but she is married to the village lord Halim. When Abbas kills Halim, the people of the village lynch Esme and pressures Esme's son to kill her.

On a misty morning, an old bus leaves Batum to go to Istanbul. As the bus stops at various places on the way, Russian women of all ages and professions, each with a unique tale, board. In this bus full of women, there are three Turkish men. Three brothers who have come together after many years to carry their father's last wish.
