A country theatre wants to stage the historical play of the opposition author, who is famous abroad but it is well known, that he is fatally ill. The ministry unexpectedly bans the premier. The author is not informed about the decision and he wants - before his death - the costume rehearsal of the play. The director and his actors set up a false rehearsal at the price of a long night's tedious job.

This film is a documentaristic dispute about the possibilities of young people to assert themselves, to make a career. Zsuzsa is a third-year university student studying pedagogy. She has been dating Zoltán for three years, and her thinking has been fundamentally shaped by this relationship. Yet now she would like to break up with him.

After his divorce, Bóna Péter, a beginner film director needs a bigger amount of money to settle his financial problems with his ex-wife. He travels to Pécs to see Sárika, an old veteran. He has not seen his aunt for a long time, and she receives him very friendly, but she flatly refuses to lend him any money.

The film takes place the Budapest Amusement Park in 1919, just before and during the proletarian dictatorship. After the outbreak of the proletarian dictatorship, both the former employee who returns from Russian captivity as a communist and the domestic philosopher spreading Marxists ideology regard the nationalisation of the Fun Fair vitally urgent. THE MAN WHO WAS THURSDAY is inspired by the existentialist novel of the same name by G.K. Chesterton (1908). The novel is considered a metaphysical thriller, and our film could be considered the same, though it also can be thought of in more classical cinematic terms a psychological and supernatural thriller.

The protagonist of the film is Simon, who comes home for his father’s funeral after having spent two years in American and doing nothing. He takes over the management of Simon and his partner’s private investigation office. Everything is torn around his neck, the office, life and Marci - a 14-year-old boy who is also Simon. He is the little son of our hero, and their relationship is very special.
