It’s a wet dream that a man dreams during the three day period of funerary proceedings during the rainy season. In the movie, images of a corpse, carnal desire, claustrophobia, the symptoms of an oppressive society, compulsive castration, and the abyss are beautifully combined.

1996, 16mm, color, 15min.

One day in the 1980s, photographer Yoon Tae accidentally discovers a man while taking pictures. He was dressed in shabby clothes, carrying a bag, holding the Taegeukgi in his hand, and was wandering around Seoul , saying unintelligible things. Yun-tae, feeling curious, follows him around. He was a man with the strange nickname 'Mr. Kant'. Mr. Kant visited cathedrals and other places and came into contact with the riot police who stood guard there. Sometimes they say strange things in front of a photographer holding a camera . The photographer who followed him but did not understand him well accidentally learns that he is a missing person from the May 18 Democratization Movement.

An intertextual collage, the work was created as the central video for an exhibition exploring the boundary between life and death through ritual and shamanic practices. Much of the work was shot on 16mm film, while altered footage from the director’s other works, Wet Dream and Dowsing, both of which also concern ritual, the dead body, and sensuality, was incorporated into the piece. Excerpts from documentaries on shamanism and several fiction films depicting funerals were also freely excerpted and edited into the work.

′Dowsing′ refers to searching for a vein of water or ore with a rod. This film sketches one strange day in a child′s life, when all daily routines seem condensed into one. She loses her sense of reality, but is not exactly fantasizing, doing and feeling things unexpected and atypical.

An experimental film made by Kim for the music video of Uhuhboo Project's "A Hot Day."
