When Pride Came to Town

Five years ago Kisilu, a Kenyan farmer, started to use his camera to capture the life of his family, his village and the damages of climate change. When a violent storm throws him and a Norwegian filmmaker together we see him transform from a father, to a community leader and activist on the global stage.

Thirteen-year-old Grace lives with her parents and eight siblings in rural Kenya. Rain means everything to this family because it makes the crops grow and provides food.

Most of them travel regularly to Europe to earn money and support their families, often as beggars or unskilled laborers. In order to find the traces of the journey to Scandinavia, two Norwegian filmmakers start to explore the village. A surprising and poetic depiction of the effects of migration on those who leave and are left behind.
