A Spare Moment

Sergiu, Laura and Smache are three high school graduates who make plans for the future. An idyll is born between Sergiu and Laura, but due to the opposition of the girl's parents and the fact that the young man is recruited, she will marry someone else. After a few years, the paths of the three meet again. Sergiu is on the verge of graduating from college and Laura, now divorced, is a piano teacher.

The film presents the evolution of Ștefan Gheorghiu, from a humble worker in Concordia oil company to a journalist, then a fighter for workers' rights and organizer of the trade union movement in Romania.

An industrial drama centered on the false reports submitted to higher supervisory authorities by the management of a factory, which had previously secured the protection of a high-ranking party official. These deceptions are accompanied by efforts to suppress the initiatives of a young engineer who proposes replacing mechanical excavators with hydraulic ones. The protagonist fights for his ideas and ultimately succeeds in imposing them when the First Secretary of the County Party Committee intervenes, leading to the exposure of the factory’s failures, the triumph of the “new,” and a proper understanding of the concept of “socialist property.
