The thematic framework of the anthology feature film DEEP CUTS is violence in all of its forms: as a destruction of intimacy, family, integrity, trust.

Family tensions are slowly eroding what should have been a carefree summer for the young boy Jakov. A series of events ending in tragedy will incite his emotional revolt against the grown ups, but also his sense of guilt.

After the death of her father, young scientist Ana struggles with an identity crisis, being the last member of a once large family. The changes inside her are suddenly reflected in reality – loneliness, crisis, emigration – and her scientific research on mystical symbols and human traces left in stone are mysteriously intertwined with her life.

Midday sun is frying the post-industrial landscape. Little Red Riding Hood is on her way to her grandmother’s cottage. She diverts the road and enters an abandoned factory building. In an empty concrete labyrinth, she discovers a black wall covered with a freshly painted graffiti - a large white flower. She exits the factory, proceeds on her way entering the dark forest. A Wolf halts her...

All is grey. The sun has not been rising for years. There is a legend going around the city: Paint the sun a 1000 times and it will rise again.
