In a country already in full raging civil war in the tiny village of power is changing every half: red, white, anarchists, gangsters, again red and white for them again, and so on to infinity ... Amid all this chaos Bumbarash tries to arrange his life and personal happiness.

Andrei Vysotina, who has just graduated from the Naval Academy, is appointed commander of the ship Derzhavny. The hero challenges the commander of another ship in the Black Sea Fleet, whose wife he was once in love with.

Ostap, a young Ukrainian forester, travels to Tashkent to claim a house his aunt left him on Thirteen Poplars Street. There he meets Mastura, a local girl who, charmed by his genuine admiration, offers to show him the city’s hidden wonders. When Ostap departs, he leaves behind not just a house but the memory of a bond that transcends borders.
