Crooked Lines

This short film is based upon a book of tales "Exemplary Crimes" by Max Aub who, in his turn, was inspired by real testimonies that describe crimes straightforwardly. The Testimonies are individual confessions by different persons that have nothing in common but the fact that all committed murder.

Lisbon, 2027. Marta and Miguel are both researchers that are part of a scientific group and a couple in their private lives. Their relationship will be put to the test on one decisive night when the parameters that Marta is analyzing point to the very high probability of a major earthquake hitting Lisbon. The group splits, debating whether or not to warn the population of the possible impending tragedy.

A bad luck that should never have happened, sends Rodrigo into a coma that lasts five years. And when he wakes up, after so long haunted by the image of the woman who shot him at close range, he realizes that life has not stopped waiting for him, without realizing that everyone is lying to him. And that your best friend is getting ready to get you into trouble again.

Four Portuguese poker players go on a trip to Las Vegas.

He came from the city and is trying to fit in the countryside – Alentejo. His life is dedicated to picking raspberries, hunting and taking swims in the canal. She is passing through and comes from the world he wanted to leave behind. One day they meet and their attraction is immediate. But their natures prevail over all else: she is free and he's a hunter.

With the pandemic, Marta discovers that the partner she idealized is, after all, violent. Trapped in the apartment with her abuser, she must choose between her safety and that of her son and the end of a seemingly perfect life.
