When La Rocque insinuates that the baby is Suzanne's, her brother Henry defends his sister's honor and kills the villain. In spite of his love for Suzanne, it is Douglas' duty to arrest Henry. He does so, but later allows him to escape, taking the bullet himself that was fired after Henry by Constable Burke.

Back in '65 there was an old Southern fire eater, Pennington, and his daughter, Lucille, fell in love with Carr who was then a lieutenant in the small Yankee force that arrived in their city at the base of the mountains. When the confederacy fell, Pennington fled into the mountains with his daughter, rather than submit and there buried himself in the same place where Carr now lived with Rosemary. Several years passed and Lucille did not forget Carr, her Yankee lover. It was then that fate brought them together and old Pennington finally consented to the marriage, exacting a promise from Carr, not to take Lucille away from him and her mountain home.

Cowboy Stanley Carson is visiting Virginia Martin in a southern city when her brother and his gambler friends try to disgrace her. Then Carson is tricked out of winning a horse race by crooked gamblers who abduct Virginia. He chases them by jumping into a boat, swimming ashore, and leaping aboard a fast train. Jumping from the train into a moving automobile, he arrives at the hotel where Virginia is held captive. Here he pauses to rescue a family from a fire and then proceeds to save Virginia. A lost film.
