Thunder, a dog raised by Ellen, a sheepherder's daughter, is driven to the wilderness by the brutal treatment of her father, Bill Garside, and becomes an outlaw; when grown, he takes command of a wolfdog pack. Later, Ellen, driven from her home by the same brutal herder, seeks refuge at the cabin of Neal Barrett, the forest ranger; she is pursued by the hungry pack and is stranded on a rocky cliff where Thunder once again encounters his former mistress. He challenges the pack in her defense, provoking a battle between himself and a rival for his command. Later, Thunder rescues Ellen from her brutal father.

Department store owner J. Elliott Dinwiddy has waited fifteen years for the perfect astrological moment to propose to his secretary, Myrtle Tweep. His astrological advisor, Dr. Wakefield, has told him that if he can unite a boy and a girl in true love before midnight, he can propose to Myrtle the following night. Fate then brings unemployed dancer Caroline Wilson into the music department of Dinwiddy's, where she meets handsome songwriter Terry Keith.

The candidate is really a stooge for a corrupt political machine, which discovers the band's handsome and appealing singer would make a better stooge. Meanwhile, romance blossoms between the band's singers. When election day approaches, the band's singer wants out of the campaign, but the machine threatens to smear him and his pals in the band if he quits.

Charlie's visit to Paris, ostensibly a vacation, is really a mission to investigate a bond-forgery racket. But his agent, apache dancer Nardi is killed before she can tell him much. The case, complicated by a false murder accusation for banker's daughter Yvette, climaxes with a strange journey through the Paris sewers.
