Sent on a spy mission to the estate of Count Toprini, Lieutenant Imre is helped by the count's wife who is unhappy in her marriage.

Lugosi works in the locomotive factory, earning little. He does not feel at ease in the world. One reason for his discontent is that his wife - a tractor factory worker - earns more than he does, and another is that she has even had her innovation accepted, while his has not. And because trouble doesn't come alone, poor Lugosi gets involved in a sabotage case.

The title character in Maria Nover (Sister Maria) is played by Eva Szorenyi. Thus the so far hidden life of Judit, which is bound to the past former world and its values is now highlighted. He is confused, asks his boss to absolve him from the assignment, but refuses to do so. Csanádi realises in the court room: Judit kept on telling lies, she played the lover for her own interest. The judge passed his crisis, he will deliver a fair sentence.

Emmy, the colonel's daughter, visits the army post. The Hussar officers are all contemplating the question of whom Emmy is going to bestow her favours on. So far Pálóczy had the best chances, but now Korponay László, troubled by his indebtedness and his love-affair with an actress, sets his eyes on her. Emmy, however, dislikes Korponay's stereotypical phrases of courting as well as his unsettled relationship with the actress. The lieutenant, sobering down, is even willing to renounce his rank for Emmy, and her heart eventually goes to him.

There is no school on the mine site. Teacher Gábor Nagy is enthusiastic about the organisation. The chief engineer Laskó, on the pretext that there are not enough children to open a school, ruins his whole job, has his men throw the benches out of the engine room, which has been converted into a classroom, and chases the children away. The teacher, however, does not give up the fight and, together with the miners, continues to fight for the school. Eventually, all the problems are solved, new families arrive on the site, whose children have reached the required number of children and can continue their education.
