Annie Kirk's life is in chaos. She is broke, unemployed, can't pay her poll tax and has two boyfriends she wants to be shot of. She is determined to break out, but how can she get the cash? Annie dreams up an ingenious plan - having a baby. The plan has alarming consequences.

Screenplay was a drama anthology television series, broadcast on BBC between 1986 and 1993. Numerous episodes were produced including one named "Boswell and Johnson's Tour of the Western Islands" starring Robbie Coltrane as English writer Samuel Johnson who in the autumn of 1773, visits the Hebrides off the north-west coast of Scotland. That episode was directed by John Byrne and co-starred John Sessions and Celia Imrie.

Following the break-up of his marriage after revealing his homosexuality, GP Martin Wyatt loses custody of his son Oliver to his now ex-wife Hannah and her new partner Frank. It is not long, however, until Oliver appears at the house of Martin and his new lover Tom claiming to have been beaten up by boys in the park. After another incident, Martin puts two and two together and comes to the conclusion that Frank has been beating Oliver without Hannah's knowledge. Martin then begins a long courtroom custody battle to win back his son.

Darkly comic murder mystery adapted from a novel by Booker Prize-winning author Bernice Rubens. Luke Wakefield is not so much a knight in shining armour as an oddball in a suit. And his crusade is more of a "who ami" than a "whodunit".
