Prishtina, Kosova, late 1990s. As war looms and ethnic tensions escalate, 13-year-old Dua struggles to find her place among her peers and within her changing body. After an incident shakes her community, she becomes a target herself and bonds with a fearless girl, Maki, who draws her toward an unexpected form of resistance. Mary returns to Perú and her family with her previous film as a gift to her father, Lucho Jimenez, an eighty year old man with a lot of vitality. She proposes a caravan trip into his past, taking him to places where they spent their lives together, asking questions he never asked about his history, his family's history and his mother's death. During the filming of the movie, Mary learns that her father has a new engagement to a woman much younger than him and that he is about to adopt his new wife's child who was given to another family.

After his mother has an accident, obese Julien (14) is taken in by his uncle's family in Switzerland. The family, who to all appearances are totally "normal", make Julien's nutrition and well-being their highest priority. But then Julien falls in love with Keiko, a young Japanese girl. In order to seduce her he pretends to be a Sumo-champion but soon finds himself in a quandary: he needs to lose weight for his new family, but he needs to gain weight if he is going to take part in the Sumo training and seduce Keiko. Bit by bit Julien's lies start to crumble and it becomes very apparent that the other protagonists' notion of normality is very relative.
