Dauga Spirit

A historical spy-thriller set in 1939 about an Estonian intelligence agent tasked with uncovering the Soviet double agent in their ranks.

Gertrude is a forty-year-old woman. She is lonely and lives in a one-room apartment. She works at a public lavatory. One night, a spider bites her. Gertrude gains superpowers: super strength and ability to weave a web, yet she does not understand how to deal with these new-found abilities. The relationship between the spider and Gertrude reminds of destructive relationship between a man and a woman.

In a dystopian world, a limousine driver named Arthur transports various passengers around the centre of Riga. His every move is monitored by the limousine's artificial intelligence, MO. Arthur and MO's relationship is seemingly friendly and playful, but there is a feeling in the air that Arthur is careful not to provoke MO. The evening is tense and Arthur has several confrontations with MO. Arthur decides to distract the limousine's AI MO by telling jokes to avoid triggering the emotion control device.

Riga by night, two girls and a guy. Andris is a cab driver who mistakes the two girls for clients; they mistake the ride for an invitation to a fancy restaurant. The misunderstanding turns the night into a whirlpool of odd coincidences, pretense and giddy mischief.

The director finds herself torn between her newfound role as a mother and the loss of her own place as a daughter while caring for her dying mother, in an intimate portrait of life starting and ending, and of how loss can become the foundation for new beginnings.

Drugs, relations, parties and people - a young fellow lives through a Day. And does that more than just once. Something is definitely not alright. But what? And is the next time going to be higher, further, stronger?
