Romanian Lidia is lured to Sweden, where she is locked up and prostituted. In her search for revenge, her fate is intertwined with the police officer Ewert Gren, who chases a dangerous criminal.

As a Swedish citizen is found dead at Newark, an American serial killer is on the plane to Stockholm. Sneaking past the police, killings soon start to happen in Sweden as well and after working with FBI, the Swedish police start to piece together an unsettling and complex image.

Melodifestivalen (direct translation: The Melody Festival) is an annual music competition organised by Swedish public broadcaster Sveriges Television (SVT). The competition is a six part tour (5 heats + the final) with stops in cities across Sweden to determine the country's representative for the Eurovision Song Contest. Melodifestivalen is also known informally as "Mello", or internationally as "Melfest".
