Dutch presenter Astrid Joosten travels the world to find out why Anne Frank's written words in her diary still inspires hope and regardless of own circumstances, works for unity and peace.

Pema, 19, is supposed to marry a girl from home, a Nepali Himalayan village at an altitude of 13,000 feet. Pema grew up in a Kathmandu orphanage as poverty and illness forced his parents to give most of their 6 children away. Today, the unusual family is scattered around the globe. It would be the only son's duty to tend to the family home in the mountains. But Pema wants to study abroad, and live a modern life.

Noa Wildschut is 14 years old and is currently being considered the greatest young violin talent in the Netherlands. She played several times solo in the Concert Hall aswell as on foreign stages, and appeared several times on television. Noa is very close to Avigal, her sister who is one and a half year older. They visit the same school and have the same friends. Avigal also plays violin but is more ambitious in other areas: for example, she wants to graduate from high school early. Together with their parents Liora and Arjan, they are a close family. Father Arjan is alto violinist and mother Liora is violin pedagogue and the driving force behind the daughters' ambitions. 'A Family Quartet' follows this musical family for two years and highlights the unique relationships that arise from the exceptional talent of Noa. Simultaneously 'A Family Quartet' is also a coming of age film about two sensitive girls in puberty, each seeking their own path in life.

Ten filmmakers of varying ages, backgrounds, and experience have explored the deeper meaning of these ancient rules. In the documentaries, they are contrasted with today's multicultural, globalized, and secularized world. A series of ten highly diverse documentaries, each addressing one commandment in its own unique way. The films explore contemporary themes such as identity, friendship, addiction, postcolonialism, morality, and the human impact on nature.
