Songs of Redemption
A portrait of a group of young inmates at the General Penitentiary in Kingston, Jamaica, who participate in a rehabilitation program through music. Through the songs and testimonies of the inmates, Songs of Redemption reveals the causes that led these young musicians to prison while portraying the harshness of life in the ghettos of Kingston. Songs of Redemption features fascinating interviews with the prisoners (incarcerated for crimes ranging from illegal possession of firearms to murder) and a powerful reggae soundtrack created, performed, and produced by inmates and guards.
