Hell Below Water

Wafaa's husband dies, so she decides to manage the companies he left behind herself, which angers her Upper Egyptian uncle who objects to women working. Wafaa thinks about getting married again to be under the protection of a man who will protect her from her uncle's interference. Based on the novel by Egyptian writer Tawfiq al-Hakim, 1937, Diary of A Country Prosecutor records the daily activities and tribulations of a public official appointed to act as a village justice in the countryside.
