A mother is taken to a hospital and the town council wants to split up her children and put them in foster homes, but the children have a diffrent plan. They set out on a epic journey down thru Sweden, from Lappland down to Stockholm in search of their father. They encounter many people on their journey and make new friends while trying too elude the police.

Hasselgård died in a car accident 75 years ago, aged just 26, he became a legend like so many other young dead in jazz history. The clarinetist Åke Stan Hasselgård managed to play with many of the greats both in Sweden and in the USA.

Two impressionable teenage girls fall in with a beatnik crowd that is content to avoid work and have fun. The group lives for today while committing petty crimes and revels in being outside social convention until their adventures take a murderous turn. A young divorcee with a baby feels that life has passed her by as her friends enjoy a carefree time. Another couple with a young child is headed for divorce when their idyllic bubble is burst and they are overwhelmed by reality.
