Motilal in the role of a doctor, wants to join the revolutionaries along with his girlfriend played by Shobhana Samarth. Both are opposed by their parents. The parents find it difficult to come to terms with what they consider as 'western influences' on their children in clothes and thinking. Several humorous situations arise in the process with everything finally ending to the satisfaction of both generations.

Pradip, a poor artist, lives with his sister Rajani, a child-widow whose past he doesn’t know. Wealthy Rohini falls in love with him, but her guardian schemes to marry her to his wastrel son for money. Rajani briefly returns in disguise as a dancer, then withdraws again, and Rohini’s love story with Pradip collapses under the weight of deceit, duty, and misfortune.

A railway employee, Kalicharan, would like Usha, the Station Master of Rangpur Railway Station's daughter, to get married to Niranjan, the DTS of Indian Railways, but Usha has fallen in love with Arun, a Guard with the Railway, wants to marry him, and refuses to marry Niranjan, who is twice as old as her and a widower as well.
