Making it in New York City is tough. Few get the chance to live out their dreams, and the cast and crew of In the Heights know this all too well. This young, diverse group of relatively unknown artists and performers dreamed of making it on Broadway, but are well aware that a new original musical set outside a bodega in the Latino neighborhood of Washington Heights is a highly risky proposition. If the power went out and didn’t return for a year or more, it’s a good bet that panic would set in once people realized something more ominous was happening, other than a temporary power outage. It sounds like a good scenario for a doomsday movie, but this event could actually occur.

In an intimate evening of music and storytelling filmed on Sting’s birthday during a run of benefit concerts at The Public Theater in New York City, “The Last Ship” features Sting joined by 14 musicians performing original songs from his critically acclaimed album and Broadway musical of the same name.
