The flight scheduled to leave Incheon International Airport for New York makes an emergency landing at Gimhae Airport due to engine problems. As the passengers will take an alternative flight the following day, they are staying at a hotel provided by the airline during a layover. While staying an unscheduled night at the same hotel, they have an unexpected experience.

Hyeonjae was a war correspondent who quit due to his trauma of war. Thinking of the special communication he had with plants as a kid, he returns to his grandfather's arboretum. At that very place, he gains the courage to live on and decides to run a plant café in the city. A flight from Incheon to London's Kingsford Smith Airport is canceled due to an engine malfunction, and passengers are provided with a complimentary overnight stay at a layover hotel. Six strangers, unexpectedly stranded together, each have a unique and unforeseen experience throughout the night. This temporary stay becomes a moment of reflection on their lives.

Second-generation migrant worker, Soo is released after receiving probation and community service sentence for his use of violence. Along with his friend Pil-sung, he ends up working as brokers for illegal migrant workers. While fulfilling his community service duty, he meets surfers. Soo falls in love with surfing as the surfers Ddong-ggo and Hae-na teach him how to surf.

The film takes place in the summer of 2019, but in a world still under a dictatorship rule. Daegu Police Counterintelligence detectives In-hyeok and Sang-jun are monitoring Lee Su-gyeong, wife of Choi Myeong-hun, who is wanted for violating security laws. In-hyeok feels compassion for the pregnant Su-gyeong living in hardship. The film is both a road movie about In-hyeok, Su-gyeong, and Sang-jun, and a story about people forced to hide in the mountains from corrupt power.

Centred on immigrant workers from Vietnam and Sri Lanka, Choi’s heroic short goes deep into Korea’s ‘black economy’, where exploitation and injustice are rife and racist outbursts are just one too many shots of soju away. The storyline shuttles from Incheon to Daegu, where the social-activist priest Jang does his best to help the immigrants with their claims for compensation, severance pay and employment rights. Fine, eye-opening stuff, rather well acted by the non-pro cast – which includes Choi himself.
