The two Cheng sisters leave war-torn Shanghai for Hong Kong. They take on another guest along the way, and move in with their cousin in Hong Kong, now a close unit of four friends. Through highs and lows, they all learn to live with each other.

To evade the police from interrogations, the two innocent witnesses wiped away their fingerprints and left a note that stated that the crimes were committed by "The Black Rose," who is known to be a fictional hero in a 1965 movie. However, a recovered fingerprint caused Kuen to be the prime suspect, and the apprentices of the Black Rose, apparently a real hero whose legacy was portrayed in the 1965 movie, attempt to seek the truth in the matter by confronting Butterfly.

In his self-directed piece "Black Umbrella," Teddy Robin makes solving conflicts on the street at night his mission and marks each closed case with his signature black umbrella. Before he calls it a day, he meets a prostitute who forcefully pulls him upstairs for business and unfortunately things spiral out of control.

Ma Lei which sounds like "Mary" is a Chinese citizen, living in Hong Kong as the kept woman of a jeweler. She wishes for two things: to get her Hong Kong Identity Card, which will enable her to get work as a legal immigrant; and to marry her boyfriend.

Lan Hou and Hui Qi are two homely friends who work for a Hong Kong company. Lily is the head of their financial department and she uses her voluptuous body to climb the corporate ladder. However, to be really successful, she also needs a bigger bosom, so she decides to consult doctors, priests and mystics. Eventually she finds a solution to her flat chest problem.
