Launched 100 years ago in the Bayer laboratories in Elberfeld, Germany, aspirin was the first drug to be mass-marketed, the first to be sold in tablet form and the biggest selling drug in history. A wonder drug treating everything from headaches to heart disease, some 1000 billion people have consumed aspirin tablets.
