A sonic-video work, a disruptive immersive experience. It’s a glass Tower of Babel, a beautiful hypnotic kaleidoscope. It’s a feeling of both attraction and repulsion, inspired by sci-fi books.

Boris Labbé offers a rearranged, reworked, re-dubbed version of the scenographic work produced for Angelin Preljocaj’s 2020 creation: Le Lac des Cygnes. The videos show the constant tension between natural and architectural elements. The landscapes, often very dark, are both hyper-realistic and hyper-artificial. They bring us face to face with the possibility of a world which is tipping ever more towards virtuality or disproportionate construction.

This project is developing around Japanese art history and literature references (The Fukinuki Yatai, The Tale of Genji, The Pillow Book) and unfolds as a great sensory fresco with strong emotional potential. A heterogeneous collection of drawn, animated and sound scenes are taken from the digital material; they recreate a sort of subjective world (inner and outer world) in the form of a labyrinth composed of fractal architectures.

Experimental film & Installation. This is the video editing used for video projections in the short film "Caverne". The video was then passed in negative and projected onto walls of a cave.2011
