At the bottom of a lake, the police find a car with a wax corpse in the trunk. It is 15-year-old boarding school student Alex, who has been missing for five years. With the sad certainty that she has been murdered, the case, which should have been closed, takes a completely new turn. Her teacher, the charismatic Hajo Rick, convicted of her murder on the basis of circumstantial evidence and witness statements, could be innocent after all! When the ambitious defence lawyer Sophia Dreyer obtains a retrial, the former investigator finds himself in trouble: Chief Inspector Kai Matzen now has to throw the certainties of the past overboard - and realize that he is more personally involved than he would like. Sophia also suspects that she can't trust anyone. And what if it was Hajo Rick after all? Dreyer and Matzen investigate independently of each other, each in their own interest, and reconstruct Alex's last hours. In the process, they uncover an intrigue.

Single mother Sabine lives with her 18-year-old son Ilya at Kochelsee in Bavaria. Ilya wants to take some time out and go on vacation to Italy with his girlfriend Cora. But Cora suddenly disappears and Ilya goes to Italy alone. When Sabine discovers a buried cave in the mountains shortly afterwards, she finds Cora's body. She fears that Cora was unfaithful to Ilya and that he killed his girlfriend in the heat of the moment. Sabine does everything she can to divert suspicion away from her son. In desperation, she turns to the village policeman Asam. Sabine has no idea that she has made a fool of herself with him. While the police search for Ilya, Sabine discovers the secret of the intelligent but brutal village policeman. Is Asam himself the murderer in the end? Sabine's life is in danger.

Polizeiruf 110 is a long-running German language detective television series. The first episode was broadcast 27 June 1971 in the German Democratic Republic, and after the dissolution of Fernsehen der DDR the series was picked up by ARD. It was originally created as a counterpart to the West German series Tatort, and quickly became a public favorite.

An Unusual Affair
