In the backlands of Goiás, Brazil, brutish men who cannot deal with their weaknesses are constantly abandoned by the women they love. Sad and bitter, these men turn violently against each other.

A Nigerian musician travels to Brazil to search for his estranged brother, who is living a life very different than the one his family thought.

Over the years, the monthly meetings of the Stew Club – a fraternity that has gathered seven long-time friends for decades – has gone from rituals of power to melancholic failure assemblies. The end would be its only worthy fate. Until a mysterious cook appears, and starts serving them magnificent feasts. The bonds of friendship are back, gluttony as a celebration of life. But there is a catch: after each dinner, a member of the brotherhood is found dead the next morning.

One day, Eduardo arrives at his house and discovers that Julia, his wife, tried to commit suicide. She left her husband and two children without saying goodbye. After some time, she comes back home. He tries everything to set her straight, but the impossibility of knowing her fully grieves him. The shadow of the suicide and the inevitable ghost of a new chance hover over their heads. Eduardo insists on understanding his wife, but an increasing jealousy and an unexpected discovery of her past torture him. He does not realize that, most of the time, the search for control easily becomes an obsession.

Two sisters with very different personalities and who have not spoken with each other for years come together to fulfill their grandfather’s last wish, a kind of wild treasure hunt that leads them to know their true history, helping them to grieve the sufferings of the past and reconnect with themselves and with one another.
