A mother must choose between love and devotion to her sons and unborn child or staying with her sexy, maniacal husband and his patriarchal sister, who respectively fulfill her physical and emotional needs.

After a stint in a juvenile detention center, Treasure is transferred to an adult prison where her mother, whom she has never met, is also imprisoned. Before long, Treasure encounters Brownie, a lifer and gang leader. Brownie reveals that she is Treasure's mother, and takes the girl under her wing, protecting her from the dangers of hardcore prison life. But some women in Brownie's gang resent Treasure's presence, leading to violent conflict.

A pirate named Rudder travels to Alphabet City and wanders through the city to find her identity.

Examining the racial history of All Saints in Indianapolis and exploring how racist policies and actions continue to impact the congregation in uneven ways, this film combines stories from community members historicized with archival footage documenting neighborhood changes that impacted the racial make-up of the congregation and the internal dynamics of the church.
