To raise capital, Michael has approached "the ugly duckling" Christine Barnewitz, daughter of the head of the association of funeral homes. Thanks to her, business is booming, with one new branch opening a week. Counter-actions by the head of the association, Friedrich Barnewitz, are successfully fended off. Michael, who is unscheduledly in love, tries to win over Christine, whose pride has been hurt. Father Barnewitz changes his strategy and tries to win over the young entrepreneurs. At the same time, the unmarried newcomer to the industry discovers that he does have real feelings for the association chairman's daughter.

A Turkish woman with a Marilyn Monroe obsession hooks up with her new neighbor, an Arab. Although the young man occasionally intones Elvis Presley songs to the guitar, as requested by her, the relationship soon falls into crisis, especially since the fun-loving single mother also begins an affair with a blonde who bears a vague resemblance to Monroe. The love potions are watched curiously and commented on by other residents of the Kreuzberg apartment building.

A West Berlin couple hopes to solve their marital problems while on vacation in Spain. Instead, the tensions between the neglected and misunderstood woman and her annoyed and otherwise unsatisfied husband escalate soon afterwards. She starts an affair with her Persian masseur, he falls in love with a mute toilet attendant, whom he brings back to Berlin and takes in with himself and his two pubescent children, while the woman moves in with her masseur. But even the new constellations quickly get into crisis.

An elderly German meets a young Oriental by chance in front of his house. In an inhospitable urban area, a woman tries to escape from a man who apparently wants to rape her. A woman is harassed in her apartment by a pushy salesman. A woman and her young son experience something mysterious at Marlene Dietrich's grave. A woman reports on her dealings with men in prison.

Looks like an alien, sings like a diva - Klaus Nomi was one of the 1980s' most profoundly bizarre characters to emerge through rock music: a counter tenor who sang pop music like opera and brought opera to club audiences and made them like it. The Nomi Song is a film about fame, death, friendship, betrayal, opera, and the greatest New Wave rock star that never was!
