The Painted Calf

In the prelude of the twentieth century, Pedro arrives in Tierra del Fuego, an hostile and violent territory, to immortalise the marriage of a powerful landowner. Fascinated by the beauty of the bride-to-be, he betrays the rules and is left to face the land, crawling with violence and marked by the genocide of the land indigenous.

Two sons of an important Fuerteventura cattle rancher (at odds with each other) are forced to overcome a disconcerting challenge in order to collect their inheritance on the death of their father: to take the cattle to the southern tip of the island and give them to Don Oswaldo, their greatest adversary.

Follows two friends, Juan and David, they will find themselves on a rooftop terrace after an intense party in Madrid. Juan witnesses David falling to the void, and his body disintegrating into ceramic pieces after hitting a car.

"Plus Ultra" is the motto of the Spanish state. This slogan was used to encourage navigators to conquer new territories and to forget the warning from mythology: "Non Terrae Plus Ultra" (there is no land beyond here). The Canary Islands, testing ground for the tactics used during the colonization of the Americas, becomes the setting for a tale about this land.

Rocío and David are two siblings who meet again after ten years without seeing each other. David has been incarcerated all this time. When he takes advantage of a prison furlough to escape with his sister to Puerto Plata, the tourist town where they used to spend the summer as a family, they reconnect, recovering memories and making up for lost time.

The filmmakers hoped they would one day get to witness the volcano’s eruption from their home of La Palma, in the Canary Islands. Little did they know it would start only two kilometres from their friend’s house. Voice messages exchanged on WhatsApp are complemented by images shot on the island, revealing a tragic yet eminently dazzling and hypnotic phenomenon.

1492. Among the crew led by Christopher Columbus travel three men who by now should have been dead. They managed to avoid their sad fate by participating in this uncertain journey. After reaching the Canary Islands they flee taking with them one of the ship's sails. Meanwhile, in the "Old World", a woman tries to save her dying sister by taking her to a healer. Both of these trips attempt to make fun of death. Both of these trips are at the mercy of history
