Contemporary of the Century

About the fate of a communist, who has come a long and difficult life from a simple worker to the director of the largest automobile plant. The prototype of the main character was the image of I. A. Likhachov (1896-1956) - the director of the Moscow Automobile Plant (ZiL).

Arena

In one of the occupied European cities, the commandant of the garrison gathers a troupe of circus performers. Coming from different countries, they are in the humiliating position of people forced to serve their enslavers. Many of them, recruited from camps and workhouses, were quite content with their lot. Only after a chain of subsequent events, the artists raise an uprising. Unarmed people are not able to resist the arrived guards. They die, but at the cost of their lives they regain their lost human dignity.

The Merchant and the Poet

A small Belarusian town, where Olga, a vivacious and able to stand up for herself and her daughter, lived, was occupied by the Germans. It was she who was approached by the underground with a request to ransom a man from a prisoner-of-war camp. The young woman was shocked by what she saw in the camp - and not finding the man she was looking for, Olga ransomed the young man, calling him her husband. The soldier, as soon as he got stronger, began to rush into battle. And when he died, Olga joined the fight against the Nazis.

A Very English Murder

A classic detective story based on one of the best-loved Golden Age crime writers, Cyril Hare, novel "An English Murder" originally published in 1951. The setting of An English Murder seems, at first, to be a very conventional one. A group of family and friends come together for Christmas at a country house, Warbeck Hall. The house is owned by Lord Warbeck, a dying and impoverished peer who wants to be among loved ones for what he thinks will be his last Christmas. The holiday decorations are up and snow is falling fast outside. The guests range from the Lord's difficult son to a visiting Czech historian. There is, of course, a faithful butler and his ambitious daughter. But when the murders begin, there is nothing at all conventional about them - or the manner of their detection...

Fuse

Fitil is a popular Soviet/Russian television satirical/comedy short film series which ran for about 500 episodes. Some of the episodes were aimed at children, and were called Фитилёк, Fitilyok, Little Fuse. Each issue contained from the few short segments: documentary, fictional and animated ones. Directed by various artists, including Leonid Gaidai who presented his famous trio of Nikulin, Vitsin and Morgunov into the cast. It was called in USSR as "the anecdotes from the Soviet government".
