A small town is taken upside down when an inventor finds a way to turn bones into gold.

Meant principally for a sympathetic audience, whether Catholic or not, this routine story about a priest's receiving the call to the cloth may be a bit slow and theatrical for some viewers. Directed by Lima Barreto, the tale is told in a series of flashbacks as the priest remembers how he was transformed as a child into a person willing to give his life in service of the church and his God. Barreto also scripted the story, which in the end, may be too filled with religious platitudes and preachy overtones to effectively convey its message.

A humble farmer aspiring for richness leaves his land to become a prospector. He finds a precious gem and hides it from his employer, for which he ends up beaten and tortured. After being released, he kills the perpetrators and flees to the big city. There he finds some criminals who will end up transforming him into the most powerful drug dealer and pimp of the underworld.

This is a remake of Brazil's first international success in the cinema world. Just as its same name predecessor was, this film is a fictional version of the story of the "cangaceiros." These were bandits who sacked towns and spread terror throughout Northeastern Brazil in the 1930s. This group of outlaws is led by Captain Galdino and his wife Maria Bonita.

With his dog Coroné, he gets himself into many amusing situations, especially when the packed vehicle is left without brakes on a steep road, and he has to chase after it.

In the time of the "cangaceiros" in the badlands of the Northeast of Brazil, the cruel Captain Galdino Ferreira and his band abduct the schoolteacher Olívia, expecting to receive a ransom for her. However, one of his men, Teodoro, falls in love and flees with her through the arid backcountry chased by the brigands.

It is the story of Pedro, who after being passed over by his brothers, wanders the world in search of a better life, but on the way, finds children who eventually conquer it, and in order to help them, he passes scamming other people he met along the way, telling lies, however, always with the goal of helping him new friends. And kills a cow.

After diving into a shallow lake, a college student becomes tetraplegic. In his wheel chair, he remembers the important facts of his life as an adolescent.
