Ingrid tries, together with several acquaintances, to compose a song for the wedding of a mutual friend. However, she's more occupied with her mother's death that she may have contributed to.

Johanne falls in love with her teacher and records her fantasies and feelings in writing. Together with her mother and grandmother, they debate the literary potential and whether to publish it.

Marianne, a doctor, and Tor, a nurse, avoid relationships. After meeting on a ferry where Tor seeks casual encounters, Marianne explores the possibility of spontaneous intimacy, questioning societal norms.

A director feels he is about to lose himself to the market forces and thinks that the only way he can protest is by making a political film. He contacts Thomas Hylland Eriksen, who will become his mouthpiece and articulate what is wrong. But along the way the director becomes distracted by another person, a young, fumbling girl reminiscent of himself.

Two married, heterosexual chimney sweeps face experiences that unsettle their views on sexuality and identity. One has a same-sex encounter without considering it either as an expression of homosexuality or infidelity. The other finds himself in dreams where he is seen as a woman.

A nurse gets into a dispute at work because she switches to speaking English when she gets nervous. A translator compromises her integrity when persuaded to translate a book she doesn't believe in. An elderly woman and her daughter are humiliated when offered a present of one million kroner from a relative. A warm and nuanced film about people who all mean well, but end up hurting one another.

This movie is about at least two things: 1. Lies and self-deception often creates trouble. 2. Pride has never made anyone happy.

A girl experiences that her grandfather dies the same day she turns 15. It's time for a strange family gathering. The family personalities and the tensions between them will be expressed through choreographed movements and dance seen through the girls point of view.
