Edge of Darkness

The search for other life in the Universe begins in our imagination as we travel to undiscovered planets out in deep space.

This documentary explains the workings of the sun, the body at the centre of the solar system, with a core heat of 30 million degrees. Savage Sun reveals the most spectacular images of the sun ever gathered, captured from many spacecraft and observatories. Internal temperatures can reach millions of degrees Celsius and surface explosions leap tens of thousands of kilometers into space. It is the most awe inspiring and fearsome body in our solar system, yet, without it, life on earth could not exist.

Travel to ancient Egypt to see how science was used to tell time, make a workable calendar, and align huge buildings. You'll learn about the connection the ancient Egyptians felt with the stars and various astronomical phenomena, and experience some of the most spectacular temples and tombs of the ancient world recreated in all of their original splendor. Telly Award winner. Narrated by John Rhys-Davies, of the Indiana Jones films and The Lord of the Rings films.

We are creatures of sight, always trying to see farther and in greater detail — exploring the distant universe far beyond our vision. Huge instruments in space have become our new eyes on the cosmos, tuned to all the wavelengths of light. Airborne telescopes and observatories on high mountain peaks also watch the universe through Earth’s clearest skies. Radio ears as big as a football stadium capture the lowest frequencies of light. Detectors deep underground see the most elusive particles. In Unseen Universe, we experience a cosmic drama playing in the heavens above, with scenes and characters we’ve never seen before.
